Given the alarming rate of COVID-19 infections and deaths in nursing homes, residents are desperate to get out of these congregate settings and others are anxious to avoid nursing home placement. Instead they want to receive Medicaid-funded waiver services and supports delivered in their own homes.

This session will describe and provide practice tips on navigating the clinical and financial eligibility maze of Medicaid's Community HealthChoices waiver, including how to use income-spend-down trusts for individuals who would not otherwise be financially eligible for the waiver. The Community HealthChoices-required nursing home transition process will also be covered.
