Involuntary discharges are one of the most common legal problems faced by nursing home residents. Nursing facilities initiate these discharges when residents have behavioral health issues they find difficult to address, when payment disputes arise, and sometimes simply because they would rather have residents with a better-paying source of coverage.

And it's not uncommon for nursing facilities to try to discharge these residents to homeless shelters, motels or other places where their care needs will not be met. Fortunately, strong legal protections are available to prevent these outcomes.

Join us to learn how to represent these very vulnerable clients and about partnering with the long term care ombudsman program. We will also discuss transfers related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the protections available to nursing home residents in these situations.
