Alfonso Madrid
Community Legal Services Senior Staff Attorney
Alfonso Madrid is a Senior Staff Attorney at Community Legal Services in the Homeownership and Consumer Rights Unit, where he focuses his practice on representing low-income homeowners in a variety of home ownership issues, including mortgage foreclosure, enforcement of installment purchase agreements, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. Prior to coming to CLS, Mr. Madrid spent a decade as sole practitioner located in Center City Philadelphia. Mr. Madrid has also served as a federal law clerk both in United States District and Bankruptcy Courts, and as a commercial litigator for Pepper Hamilton LLP and the United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Madrid has served on the board of directors of the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project, a legal services organization matching volunteer attorneys and paralegals with indigent debtors in Philadelphia seeking legal advice and preparation of Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions. He has been a regular speaker for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and other organizations on bankruptcy, foreclosure, and other consumer debt issues. His commitment to low-income residents of Philadelphia has been recognized by organizations such as the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program.
