Susan Abramowich is currently a Managing Attorney handling cases involving domestic violence and complex custody matters. As an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh, Susan also teaches classes regarding general law and ethics. Prior to joining NLS, Susan served as a child advocate/Guardian ad litem with KidsVoice of Pennsylvania and worked in private practice as a criminal defense and family law attorney. Susan has received specialized training from the ABA Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado, and CLASP (the Collaborative Law Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania).
Susan earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1994. She is also a proud Penn State alumna, earning her Bachelor of Arts in English, with minors in History and Art History in 1990.
Susan is an ACBF Fellow with the Allegheny County Bar Association and an active member of the Family Law Section (council), Children’s Issues Committee, Public Service Committee, and Judiciary Committee (3 year term 2020-2023). She is also active in the planning of the annual Allegheny County Bench-Bar conference, serving on both the Programming and Entertainment Committees. Susan is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where she participates in the Family Law and Public Service committees, the Women in the Profession Commission, and is a Zone 12 Delegate to the Board of Governors. Susan also maintains memberships in the American Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
